The China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda

Shenshuping base of The China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda in Wolong was completed by the end of 2014. Also called the China Giant Panda Centre, there are 30 panda habitats, a panda hospital, laboratories, a science education centre, and a visitor reception centre here. It is the world's largest giant panda rearing, breeding and research base and the world's only training centre for reintroducing pandas to the wild. It helps to establish an important platform for international exchange of scientific research work. The base has been awarded the highest three-star rating by the China Green Building Label system. Dujiangyan base of The China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda was completed in early 2014. The base is also called "The Giant Panda Conservation and Disease Control Centre in Dujiangyan". Housed here are a Disease Control and Research Centre for Giant Pandas, Panda Hospital, innovative research equipment, and 30 habitats for rehabilitation and training of giant pandas. The Centre is also equipped with isolation facilities where elderly or newlyarrived giant pandas are kept under observation temporarily. This becomes the first place in the world which is designated to the rescue of the single species, giant panda, for research on its disease control. The Science Education Centre here enables visitors to learn about giant pandas from scientific point of views. Visitors can also meet giant pandas in the habitats while travelling the Centre.
